Poetweet!

So Hayah, an ardent fan of the Annasi & Kadalagotu Poetry Pilau proposed the idea of a “poetry chain” on Twitter. She explained it as a couple of tweeps deciding on an order in which to take turns and tweet poetry one line at a time. The spontaneous composition would be numbered according to the line number and the next person would retweet the previous poetweets before posting theirs. The following is by myself (@stfallen), Hayah (@hayahz) and T (@teavoted). The end result:

Temple trees adorned by Araliya flowers and glowing orbs, full-moon-lit streets thru people sway. #1
Candles peeping out of their laced veils, others glowing shyly behind glazed reds and greens,
their songs flapping in the wind. #2
Eyes and ears, soaking up the sights and sounds and somehow reflecting them uniformly
with awe filled faces and delighted smiles, #3
Heads upturned as lanterns hang from branches like electric leaves,
gently rocking, colours mingling. #4
One candle. The one she lit. Peeks out of a purple veil, seeing faces, but seeking just a face.
One that may not pass by, not tonight. #5
And somewhere in a far away city, alit and alive, he too seeked some thing,
all too aware of the one thing he couldn’t have #6
Those who seek and those who go blind are one and the same
- one is blinded by the light, the other by darkness. #7
What can this slow glow throb of her heart do but hope,
behind veils of insecurities and walls of doubt, somewhere someday he will see it. #8
Just like the dazzling lights tonight, she can’t get enough of him.
But in the faraway city, he shields his eyes and turns to go home. #9
