Trust

To me trust is not about how much you can believe someone, but about knowing when they are telling the truth, and when they’re not. To me that’s about as much as I’d ever trust a person, because no one is completely honest & no one is completely trustworthy. To me trust is about knowing when you can trust someone & with what you can trust them with.

It’s also about knowing how much others trust you & making sure that you’re as trustworthy to them as they are to you. But of course that doesn’t mean that you should trust someone simply because they trust you, most people throw trust around, but you should try and be as reliable to them as they are to you.

Trust should have its boundaries. There has to be a point at which you draw a line that no one may cross. The only person you can really trust is yourself, and even that you can not trust completely, because you never really know who you are.

Then comes the decision of who to trust, and who not to trust. One of the most difficult decisions to make because there’s always a part of you that wants to trust someone, but you know you shouldn’t. Time itself will judge the trust of the other. Wait for it, instead of making the decision without considering the consequence.

Trust is not a childish game you can play with no worries, if you’re going to trust someone, you will get hurt, and you will be let down.

It is the decision of trust, the act, which is the hardest of all. This decision makes the mind in a battle of tug of war: to trust, and not to.

Once that decision is made all you can do is watch what happens. Pull too hard and you’ll fall down, pulling the others in with you. Don’t pull hard enough and they’ll pull you in and you’ll fall along with them. Let go and they’ll fall down and you’ll be the one left standing.

Once a friend said, “Remember, the more you attach yourself to people, they will get a better chance to let you down.”

Imaad, you may see a slight resemblance of those words within the contributions I made.
