Kataragama

Take my body to Kataragama,
and set me alight.
Then throw my ashes on the coals,
and walk, scorching, over my soul.

Flesh meets wasted flesh,
Blisters bless the merging,
Of Self and Sense,
Sanity bids adieu.

Wavering radiant light,
Firefly on a Poya night,
Pouncing upon the funeral fire,
Twirling in your whirl of Desire.

Taste of Death greets your lips,
Demise devours tongue,
Senses failing,
One by one by one.

Deaf, blind, deaf, blind, and numb.
Souls of Self have Senseless become.
Take my body to Kataragama,
and dance upon my tomb.
